Mayor Walsh’s Office of Accountability, Performance, and Innovation Receives Government Achievement Award for Performance Management Dashboard

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) has selected the City of Syracuse as a winner of NYCOM’s Local Government Achievement Award for 2019. The awards program, in its 32nd year, recognized Syracuse for its Performance Management Dashboard created by Mayor Walsh’s Office of Accountability, Performance, and Innovation (API).

In commenting on the award, NYCOM President Gary McCarthy, Mayor of the City of Schenectady, stated: “The City of Syracuse is to be commended for its desire to improve the City through innovation and transparency. The Performance Management Dashboard will benefit Syracuse for years to come and typifies how municipal officials continue to work diligently to enhance their communities and the quality of life for their residents. Congratulations to Mayor Ben Walsh on this important accomplishment.”

The City of Syracuse’s online Performance Dashboard (dashboards.syrgov.net/) uses an Objectives and Key Results framework to ensure that city-wide service delivery goals can be easily tracked and measured. The data is compiled and visualized by the Performance Dashboard which makes it easy for city employees as well as the general public to see if the metrics are trending in the right direction. This has resulted in improved service delivery throughout the City’s operations.
The other winners of NYCOM’s Local Government Achievement Award for 2019 are: City of Corning, City of Poughkeepsie, Village of Bergen, Village of Ellicottville, and Village of Rockville Centre. The awards will be presented on May 5, 2019 at NYCOM’s Annual Meeting in Cooperstown. NYCOM represents 573 cities and villages in New York State and has been in existence since 1910.
