City pools remain closed for the time-being

The City of Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Programs today announced that playgrounds in city parks are now open to the public. In addition to the playgrounds, outdoor spray features will be available for use to combat the heat.

The following parks currently have water sprinklers immediately available:

  • Burnet Park Mister
  • Comfort Tyler Park
  • Frazer School Spray Feature
  • McKinley Park Spray Area
  • Thornden Park Spray Circle
  • Union Park Spray Area
  • Lower Onondaga Spray Feature
  • Schiller Park Mushroom

In the coming weeks, water systems expected to become available include the following park locations: Lewis Park; Lower Onondaga (self-activated); Schiller Park Mushroom; Skiddy Park; Washington Square Park; and Wilson Park.

Signage reiterating healthy practices in accordance with reopening guidelines will be displayed. Masks (except when near water outlets), social distances of 6 ft. apart, avoidance of large gatherings, and transmission prevention precautions are required for use of any city park recreational features. City pools remain closed for the time-being due to the financial impact of COVID-19 on city government.
