The City of Syracuse Department of Engineering announced the start of a streetscape improvement project along University Avenue, between Waverly Avenue and East Genesee Street. The project will consist of the installation of American with Disabilities Act-compliant corners; crosswalks; paver resets; driveway replacements; and landscaping in select areas. Milling (road surface removal) and paving will also take place on certain blocks during the project, scheduled to be complete by July 30.
Pedestrian traffic will be impacted throughout the life of the project. The contractor will have detour signs in place to redirect traffic during the pavement phase. The project is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
