Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh today announced that weekend outdoor dining on Walton Street in downtown Syracuse will continue during the month of October.

The overall success of “Weekends on Walton” has prompted businesses in Armory Square to appeal for its extension into the fall. A busy stream of foot traffic has remained visible on each block where the storefront businesses are using the public right of way (ROW) between S. Clinton Street and W. Fayette Street. Patrons have taken full advantage of the opportunity to dine and shop in a socially distanced environment, resuming a sense of normalcy while enjoying city amenities.

The weekend street closure will be modified for the month of October, with the 100 block of Walton Street closing to traffic Friday morning to Monday morning, and the 200 block of Walton Street closing Friday morning through Saturday night. The 200 block will reopen Sunday morning. Updated information on the Walton Street closure and a list of participating businesses can be found at https://downtownsyracuse.com/weekends-walton.

All businesses are still obligated to ensure compliance with the NY Forward reopening guidance to receive and maintain a permit. For more information on the ROW permit, contact the Central Permit Office by phone at 315-448-4754 or by email at bmoore@syrgov.net for any questions.
