Mayor Walsh conducted a web conference news briefing from his home about his quarantine due to a potential COVID-19 exposure. He will be fulfilling his duties as Mayor remotely during a 14 day quarantine being taken about of an abundance of caution. He was tested for COVID-19 today and is awaiting results.

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced today that he is undertaking a quarantine after potential exposure to COVID-19 at an event at the Atrium in Syracuse City Hall Commons on Wednesday, October 7. The Mayor said his contact was minimal and that the quarantine is out of an abundance of caution. Walsh will continue his duties as Mayor during his quarantine. COVID-19 health precautions were followed at the event. Following its standard procedure, the Onondaga County Health Department will conduct contact tracing of individuals at the event and will contact any individuals for whom additional precautions are required.
