The City of Syracuse Department of Engineering is accepting public comments for the W. Genesee Street milling (road surface removal) and pavement project scheduled to begin in June 2022. The City, in collaboration with the project engineer Barton & Loguidice, has created a website explaining the project. The project team is inviting the public to view the project description and plans at wgpim.com. The public can submit questions and comments in response to the proposed plans during the comment period until Monday, Dec. 7.

The project consists of plans to rehabilitate (mill and pave) a 2.3 mile stretch of road on W. Genesee Street, from Myrtle Street to N. Salina Street. Improvements proposed during construction include: fully resurfaced pavement; new pavement stripings; and Americans with Disability Act-compliant sidewalks and curbs. Traffic will have access to the street during construction, only incurring lane changes and shoulder closures.

Final project designs will be approved in January 2021. Comments can either be submitted through the site or by email to mmalkoc@syrgov.net or akerr@bartonandloguidice.com.
