New York State lifted the Orange Zone restrictions on restaurants and small businesses in the City of Syracuse and parts of Onondaga County Thursday. All of the County will now be in a Yellow Zone. Mayor Walsh had publicly urged modifications to the restrictions and wrote to Governor Cuomo about his concerns earlier this month. The Mayor issued this statement in social media:
“Lifting the Orange Zone is welcome news for our City restaurants and small businesses. The State’s announcement reflects the concerns I’ve expressed about uniformity and fairness. I’m glad it also emphasizes the importance of continuing to protect public health.”
