Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced that the City of Syracuse Department of Engineering is scheduled to begin a milling and paving project on S. Salina Street, from Cortland Avenue to Adams Street, on Thursday, May 6.
Construction includes the removal of the top asphalt surfaces of the road, followed then by the placement of a new asphalt road surface. Traffic will be permitted along this section of Salina Street during construction however on-street parking will be prohibited. Final pavement striping will be completed later this year.
In coordination with the Department of Water, this project is a part of a series of road reconstruction efforts adopting the “dig once” philosophy to work on multiple underground projects prior to closing the ground. The same project involves milling and paving Salina Street, from Adams Street to N. State Street, and State Street from Martin Luther King to James Street, further notifications on the scheduling of this work will be issued.
The work is anticipated to be complete by Friday, May 14, weather dependent.
