The course parking lot will remain closed all day and the last tee time will be at 11:30 a.m.
On Saturday, July 24, the Syracuse Parks Conservancy is teaming up with the Syracuse Parks Department to host the first Bucks, Balls & Brews event at Burnet Golf Course, located off Avery and Coleridge Avenues, from 2 to 6 p.m. This family event will feature live music, a local brewery, several food trucks, kid’s games and crafts, and a chance to win $1,000 with a charity golf ball drop.
“The Parks Conservancy recognizes the positive impacts our two nine-hole municipal golf courses have on the Syracuse community,” said Syracuse Parks Conservancy President Chris Wiles. “To host an event which highlights the picture-perfect Burnet Park Golf Course and affords people a unique and fun opportunity to reconnect with family and friends is a win-win for everyone.”
Families are encouraged to come out to enjoy one of the best views in Syracuse while listening to live music performed by Syracuse locals, Vaporeyes. Event admission is free.
PB & J’s Lunch Box, Skippy’s Ice Cream and Skinny’s Snacks & Refreshments will be onsite with a variety of food options for sale. Middle Ages Brewery will have adult beverages available for purchase for attendees 21 and older.
“The Syracuse Parks Conservancy has played an integral role making our visions reality,” said Syracuse Parks Commissioner Julie LaFave. “We are so fortunate to work with this dedicated group of individuals whose mission aligns with ours. They have supported us with everything we do and we are grateful to add this new event to the calendar.”
The Golf Ball Drop will take place at the event at 4 p.m. and the two prize winners will be announced immediately following. The ball drop will consist of 500 numbered golf balls being dropped over a designated golf hole. The golf ball numbers correspond to numbered tickets sold at Burnet and Sunnycrest Golf Courses. The golf ball that enters or falls closest to the hole will win $1,000. The second closest golf ball will win $250. Tickets are $5. Cash only. A limited number of tickets will be available to purchase the day of the event until 3 p.m. or until sold out.
Event attendees can pay $1 to sink a putt for a chance to be entered into a raffle to win great prizes, including a free golf membership for Burnet and Sunnycrest Golf Courses.
Parking will be available in the parking lots adjacent to the playground and along the park road. A golf cart will be onsite to shuttle attendees up to the course for those that need it.
All proceeds raised will benefit the Syracuse Parks Conservancy.
The Syracuse Parks Conservancy’s mission is to ensure that all Syracuse parks, public lands and the habitats therein are sustainably protected, restored, enhanced and developed for the educational, recreational and wellness uses of our citizens and their guests.
