Statement by Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh regarding Common Council approval of a pandemic relief investment in the City’s digital infrastructure and payroll modernization:

“A core component of our strategy for deploying American Rescue Plan Act funding is strengthening city government’s digital infrastructure, which includes modernization of cybersecurity by investing in, hardware, software, and other critical assets. With Common Council authorization of a $277,000 investment in payroll modernization, we can enhance management of overtime costs and improve revenue collection for the City. The expenditure will help us do away with outdated practices and technology systems that have limited the City’s security, efficiency, and fiscal sustainability for decades. This is a leap forward for the City, and I look forward to working with the Council to advance our other investments in digital transformation and cybersecurity. They impact city workers and the people we serve every day.”
