Restaurants have had to face a number of challenge Restaurants have had to face a number of challenges over the past year, some of them insurmountable, causing the doors of our favorite spots to close for good. To help restaurants keep going, especially during the winter, Mayor Walsh and the @tasteofsyracuse kicked off the “Restaurant Rescue” campaign today in Armory Square.

Any of local eatery impacted by COVID-19 can apply to receive assistance. Generous donors have already given to help reach half of the $50,000 goal! The community can join the effort to support restaurants throughout #Syracuse by adding to fund.

The lights on the Clinton Square Christmas tree were turned off last night to pay tribute to the 453 victims of COVID-19 in Onondaga County in 2020, including William Winslow, a former city Parks employee.

The tree remained off for nearly eight hours, one minute for each person who succumbed to the virus last year.

Remember to wash your hands, wear a mask, avoid gatherings, socially distance and get tested.
